Healthy Diet Menu – How Do You Stay on the Right Track?

Don’t follow the fads when it comes to dieting! My moto is “there is no healthy diet, only a healthy lifestyle’!
It is easy to get caught up in “quick fixes.” There is no end to bars or pills or patches or shakes that will help you lose weight fast! Don’t fall for it!
Can these help? Yes but don’t rely solely on these wild claims. Even if you do manage to lose weight, you will gain it back when go you off the diet or plan or aids.
Here are a few tips that will help your weight loss and help you gain some consistency with your healthy lifestyle.
How much do you need to lose? Set reasonable goals!
Writing down reasonable and healthy goals is the first step. You don’t want to be too aggressive with your goals because that leads to failure and frustration.
You do need a bit of a challenge. I would like to lose 20 pounds but I really need to lose a minimum of 10 so I will make 10 pounds my goals. Next I like to have a reward. This would be something that I wouldn’t normally buy or do. It might be a new pair of pants or a special dinner.
Tell someone. It is much easier to stay on track with your diet if you are accountable to someone else. Work out an arrangement to tell them every day how you are progressing.
Don’t Starve Yourself
You will want to eat more healthy foods and cut way back on the junk food. Good foods are things like broccoli, lettuce, zuchinni and other green vegetables high in fiber. Be careful with fruits since the have a lot of sugar. Be careful with carbs since they turn into sugar.
Don’t Sit on Your Butt
Part of your plan should be exercise. It doesn’t have to be marathon running or acting like a weight lifter. If you aren’t inclined to exercising just try walking 30 minutes a day.
Even though you might be eating better, you still need help burning up calories!
You might want to find other activities that you enjoy doing. A few ideas might be salsa dancing or zumba, biking, or even golf. (I listen to up beat music while cleaning the kitchen or folding laundry and find myself dancing while I work.)
Are you hydrated?
Moving to Texas has given me a new appreciation for drinking a lot of water! First you want to make sure that your body is hydrated. Not only do you need to be drinking water, you also need to make sure that you cut down on drinks that rob your body of water like coffee or soda.
Water also helps to make you feel full. Drink a glass of water before meals or snacks.
Believe it or not, water also helps the appearance and glow of your skin!
If you have a bad couple of days, don’t binge! Just forget it and move on. Keep focused on your goals and you will make progress. You will feel so much better about yourself as well as physically.
